FAQ
How do I book a stay?
Every listing shows how to book. Some hosts take bookings on their own website or booking system; then you book directly through the button on the listing. You can also send a booking request through the form on the listing. It goes straight to the host, who replies by email, usually within a day.
Who do I pay?
You pay the host, in the way they tell you. Stay in Riebeek does not take payments and does not charge guests anything.
What is the cancellation policy?
Each host sets their own cancellation policy. You will find it under 'Good to know' on the listing, or ask the host before you confirm your booking.
How far is Riebeek Kasteel from Cape Town and the airport?
About 75 km, roughly an hour's drive from Cape Town via the N7 and Malmesbury. Cape Town International Airport is also about an hour away.
Do I need a car?
The village itself is easy to walk. For wine and olive farms, Riebeek West and day trips you need a car; there is no regular public transport into the valley.
When is the best time to visit?
Every season has something. Summer (December to February) is hot and dry, sometimes above 35 °C. Autumn brings the grape and olive harvest. Winter is green and quiet, with rain and fires. Spring has canola, wildflowers and the busiest events calendar.
What about power cuts?
South Africa has had planned power cuts in the past. Many hosts have backup power; check 'Good to know' on the listing or ask the host.
Are the reviews genuine?
Yes. Only guests who stayed receive a personal invitation to write a review after check-out. Every genuine review is published, positive or negative; hosts can reply but cannot remove reviews.
I own a place in the valley. How can I list it?
Go to 'List your home' and sign in with your e-mail address; you receive a one-time code, no password needed. Add photos and details, and your listing goes live straight away once everything is complete. You keep your own prices, booking system and guests.
