First Fridays and the Village Market
Two monthly events that show Riebeek Kasteel at its liveliest.
If you can choose when to visit Riebeek Kasteel, aim for the first weekend of the month. Two regular events make it extra special.
First Fridays takes place on the first Friday evening of every month, usually from 17:00 to 20:00. Shops, galleries and restaurants in the village stay open late, often with specials, exhibitions and a festive atmosphere. It is a great way to meet locals and see the village's art scene.
The next morning, on the first Saturday of the month, the Riebeek Valley Village Market fills the village square. You will find crafts, local food, baked goods and produce from the valley. Go early for the best choice and stay for a coffee in the sun.
Together they make a perfect weekend: arrive on Friday afternoon, check in, walk to the village for First Fridays and dinner, then spend Saturday morning at the market before heading out to the wine farms.
