Picnics in the valley
Open-air lunches under the trees, with or without a picnic basket of your own.

A picnic is one of the most relaxed ways to enjoy the Riebeek Valley. The landscape is open, the weather is often sunny, and local food and wine are easy to find.
At Kloovenburg, Kringe Inni Bos is an open-air, self-serve picnic spot on the farm. It is open from Friday to Sunday and on public holidays. Combine it with a tasting and a walk on one of the estate's trails.
You can also make your own picnic. Buy bread at a bakery in the village, olives and tapenade at Het Vlock Casteel or another farm shop, and cheese and other local produce in the shops around the square. Add a bottle of Swartland wine and you have everything you need.
In summer, choose the shade and go early or late in the day; the midday heat can be intense. In spring and autumn, almost any time of day is perfect.
If your stay has its own garden or terrace, that is a picnic spot too. At Huis Agt, one of the stays on this site, each unit has its own kitchen and its own place outside, so you can prepare a basket and have a long lunch without leaving.
