Riebeek Kasteel in spring
Green fields, flowers, olive blossom and the start of the outdoor season.

Spring in the Swartland runs from roughly September to November, and it is one of the best times to visit the Riebeek Valley.
After the winter rains, the wheat fields are bright green and the vineyards come back to life with new leaves. In the wider West Coast region, spring is also the season of wildflowers. The weather turns warm but not yet hot, perfect for walking and cycling.
Spring is also festival season. The Swartland Olive Festival usually takes place in September, and in October the valley hosts its Shiraz and Art weekend and the Solo Studios art festival, when artists open their studios to visitors.
The evenings get longer, and it becomes warm enough to sit outside until late. On sunny afternoons the first brave guests try the pool.
Spring weekends and festival dates are popular, so book early. Many of the stays on this site can be booked as a single unit or as a whole house for a group.
