What's coming up in and around the valley
The next months in Riebeek Kasteel and within an hour's drive: markets, summer evenings, harvest and the big festivals of 2027.
The calendar in the Riebeek Valley follows the seasons. Here is what is coming up, from the regular village evenings to the big weekends of 2027. Dates for later events are confirmed closer to the time, so check the What's on page.
Every month: First Fridays, when shops and restaurants stay open late, falls on 6 November and 4 December. The Riebeek Valley Village Market on the square is on the first Saturday morning of each month, including 7 November and 5 December.
November and December: the ACVV Christmas Market on the town square, and on Boxing Day the yearly cricket match between Riebeek Kasteel and Riebeek West.
Summer: The Galileo Open Air Cinema shows films under the stars at venues in Cape Town and the Winelands until May 2027.
Early 2027: harvest season. Wellington's Wine Harvest Festival is usually held in March, about 40 minutes away.
Later in 2027: Tulbagh's Christmas in Winter in late June, the Darling Wildflower Show in September, and the valley's own Swartland Olive Festival towards the end of September. Solo Studios usually returns in October.
