Goedgedacht: walking trails on an olive farm with a purpose
Trails for every level on a farm run by a community development trust.

Goedgedacht is an olive farm in the Riebeek Valley with a story that goes beyond olives. It is run by a community development trust, and its work supports people and young people in the surrounding rural communities.
For walkers, the farm offers several trails. They range from a gentle walk of about 2.8 kilometres, suitable for most people, to a demanding mountain route of 13.4 kilometres for experienced hikers. Along the way you walk through olive groves and fynbos, with views over the Swartland.
The farm also sells its olive oil and other products, so you can take a taste of the walk home with you. Buying here supports the trust's community work.
As with all walks in the valley, start early in summer, carry enough water and check conditions and access with the farm before you go.
A morning on the trails, followed by lunch in Riebeek Kasteel and an afternoon by the pool, is about as good as a day in the countryside gets.
