Walking trails at Kloovenburg
Three routes on a historic wine and olive farm, from an easy family walk to a mountain climb.

Kloovenburg, just outside Riebeek Kasteel, is not only a place to taste wine and olives. The estate also has three walking trails on the slopes of the Kasteelberg, which make it one of the best places for a walk in the valley.
The Olive Route is the easiest and is suitable for families. It takes you through the olive groves, with views over the farm and the valley. The Mountain Route is more demanding and climbs higher on the slopes for wider views.
Walk early in the morning, especially in summer, when temperatures rise quickly. Take water, a hat and sunscreen, and wear proper shoes; paths on the mountain can be rocky.
Afterwards you can reward yourself with a tasting at the estate, or a picnic at Kringe Inni Bos, the farm's open-air picnic spot, which is open from Friday to Sunday.
Check with the estate for trail access, any fees and current conditions before you go. Then drive the few minutes back to the village for a swim and a late lunch.
